Zinc Health Benefits
Zinc is critical to maintain a healthy
body. Without it, more than 300 enzymes cannot work properly. Zinc helps the body fight
off a range of viral infections from strep throat and influenza to herpes and the common
cold, and especially respiratory infections. Zinc has been proven to boost the immune
system and shorten the duration of a cold. If taken the FIRST day
you feel any sign of a cold, sore throat, or cough, you can be free of it by the next day! Some other health
benefits of zinc are its ability to regulate the oil glands, prevent acne, promotion of
wound healing and its ability to support a healthy immune system.
Zinc is not to be taken all the time. Too
much zinc (over time) can actually backfire, suppressing immunity. Recent studies indicate
that zinc can cause prostate problems in men if zinc is taken regularly or for long
periods of time. Zinc is safe to take once and a while and taken as recommended on the
label. Our family only takes zinc lozenges at the first sign of a cold
or the flu and only for about three days. We use Dr. Zinc® Lozenges because they are much
cheaper, work much better than any other zinc lozenge we have tried, and have a
great taste. If our kids love them, then they must taste good.
Zinc in pill form have not worked for us at
all. The pills will boost the immune system, but they do not coat the mouth and throat,
haulting cold germs like the lozenges do.
When taking zinc for cold,
use zinc lozenges as dirrected on the package throughout the day, making sure to
take one right before bed. Zinc seems to work better while you sleep. Do not eat or drink
30 minutes before or after taking the lozenges.
Because of Dr. Zinc, our family has been
cold free for years. We just can't seem to live without this stuff. You can find Dr.
Zinc® at these stores: Hy-Vee, Leader Drug, Marquee, Sun Mart, Health Mart, and Value
Rite. This website (MyLeader.com)
