Carotenes

| Over 600 different carotene
compounds have been identified. Carotenes
protect against cell damage, provides source of vitamin A, helps immune system, and
reproductive system. If you smoke, drink alcohol or do not consume much fruits and
vegetables, you need to get adequate amounts of alpha carotene in your diet. Also, if you
are a smoker, studies suggest beta carotene suppliments can be dangerous, so it is best to
get you carotenes from foods.
