Butter is a rich source of Vitamin A and trace minerals like
selenium. It contains iodine, butiric acid, (used by the colon as an energy
source and an anti-carcinogen) and lauric acid, (a potent antimicrobial and antifungal
substance). Butter also contains the essential omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. It is a natural
fat, unlike margarine, which has been hydrogenized.
Margarine is made from and assortment of
vegetable oils heated to extremely high temperatures. Nickel, (a toxic heavy medal) is
then added in order to make the oils solid. Deodorants are also added to remove the smell
of the highly heated oil. When the oil is hardened, harmful carcinoginic trans-fatty acids are then produced.
In my own family,
my grandmother, (who is in her late 80's) has cooked and eaten with butter her entire
life. She uses it in almost everything she cooks. Butter is a natural fat filled with
antioxidents, vitamins and trace minerals, proving itself to be a healthy alternative to
margarine.
