Natural Remedies for High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)

There are many herbs and vegetables that can lower high blood pressure. Among these are celery, broccoli, garlic, onions, tomatoes, carrots, saffron herb, fennel, oregano, black pepper, basil, and tarragon. Eating as few as four celery sticks a day has been shown to lower blood pressure.

A recent study showed that people who used little salt in their diet had much lower blood pressure than people who used more.

In one study, garlic was shown to significantly lower blood pressure. In this study, people with high blood pressure were given just one clove of garlic a day for 12 weeks. Their diastolic blood pressure and cholesterol levels were then significantly reduced. Take 1-3 cloves garlic a day, either slightly cooked or chopped and left to sit overnight. If you are on blood pressure medications, inform your doctor before switching to garlic. Stopping blood pressure medication yourself can be dangerous.

Magnesium and calcium are both good to take for high blood pressure. Fresh refrigerated flaxseed oil and fish oils will help promote good circulation. Hawthorn will moderate the heart rate and widen blood vessels. By making a few simple lifestyle changes, you can see significant improvement in your blood pressure.

Again, be sure to tell your doctor before changing your diet, taking supplements, or stopping any medications. Garlic is also a blood thinner so if you are on blood thinner medications, ask your doctor before taking garlic.
